What is the best game system for an adult?

I decided to join the new generation of games, but can not decide what system is best. Do I get a Wii or Xbox? 1. I do not want anyone online games 2. Probably not the dumb stupid little games over 3. use when my adult children visit 4. can be used for the CD of the year? I am a novice on a computer, so as not intimidated by technology, but just never had in the games so far. Thoughts? Likes, dislikes for each system
