blood pressure and exercise hypertension

What is the most effective way to threat Hypertension?

I am 23 years old - male - 171 cm and i have around 180 pounds, recently i have discovered that i have high blood pressure ( hypertension ) , my average is 140/90 and some times hit 150/100. I went to the doctor and he advice me to take 2 medicines for 3 weeks and then go check-back again.

I did some re-search online and i have found that, "Losing Weight" , "Exercising" and eating fruits will help your blood pressure to go lower, is that true? Also what do you recommend me to do? Should i take the medications from the doctor or go ahead with weight loss, exercise and lifestyle changes?

Thanks
Also .. is hypertension permanent ?

Your research is correct. Weight loss and exercise will decrease your hypertension.
Weight gain and being overweight places extra strain on the heart and these people tend to have more fat deposits in their arteries which increases the blood pressure.

I would take the medication in conjunction with loosing some weight on a sensible diet and exercise plan. With your Doctor's supervision.
Your hypertension is not excessive so these changes will help.

Hypertension is not permanent except in someone with persistent high cholesterol, extreme weight issues and heart conditions. But it can be helped.

I also have hypertension and my new years resolution is to lower it through exercise and weight lose. So go for it!

Also give up smoking. Reduce stresses in your life or learn relaxation techniques. Not drinking alcohol and having a good sleep pattern also helps.

Chances are good that you or someone you know has high blood pressure, known medically as hypertension. An alarming one in three American adults—a total of 73 million people—has this disorder. If you are among them, you can take steps today to protect yourself from the damage it causes. Because hypertension has no symptoms or warning signs, yet can be so dangerous to your health and well-being, it has earned the nickname "the silent killer." Fortunately, high blood pressure is easy to detect and treat. Sometimes people can keep blood pressure in a healthy range simply by making lifestyle changes, such as losing weight, increasing activity, and eating more healthfully. In other cases medication is necessary, especially if you have diabetes, kidney disease, or other cardiac risks. Either way, reducing your blood pressure even a little bit can dramatically improve your health and life expectancy. This report lays out a step-by-step lifestyle program you can use to lower your blood pressure, including a special section on the best diet for keeping your blood pressure in check. It also covers blood pressure monitoring and medications. With the information available today, there is no need for hypertension to be a killer any longer.

Hypertension and Stroke

Hypertension and Stroke

$189

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the US and a leading cause of disability among adults. Stroke is not an accident but occurs in relation to a number of risk factors or antecedents. Hypertension is the most important modifiable risk factor for stroke, and blood pressure level may play an important role in determining outcome after acute ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke. Hypertension remains poorly controlled in the community at-large, and once stroke occurs clinicians are not certain about proper management of blood pressure during the acute, subacute and chronic periods after stroke. Given the importance placed on hypertension as a risk factor for stroke and new data which is now available from clinical trials regarding management of hypertension for stroke prevention and after stroke, a compendium is needed to concisely summarize the available data on hypertension and stroke and direct clinicians about proper treatment of blood pressure. This text will address the epidemiology, mechanism, and pathophysiology of hypertension and blood pressure in relation to stroke and other brain sequelae of abnormal blood pressure, results of clinical trials demonstrating best suggested practice modalities to manage blood pressure and hypertension, and provide practical management tips for controlling blood pressure and hypertension. The book will be a valuable asset to medical students, resident physicians, practicing physicians, and other health care professionals who treat stroke patients or deal with persons at high-risk for stroke.
