Chair exercises

Small amounts of exercise can help increase your strength, flexibility and improve mobility and strengthen the heart and lungs, and of course help control or reduce weight.

Before any exercise session, it is a good idea to warm, stretch and cool down for about ten minutes before and after. Always start slowly and work to more difficult exercises, do not panic. A workout includes upper body exercises for the arms, torso, neck and shoulders. It helps all.

If you are concerned its always best to consult your doctor first to find out who performs best suits your needs.

"Resistance Training" One type of exercise you can do from a wheelchair He said the use of large, elastic rubber bands called resistance bands. Wrap the band securely around a door, pole, coming under the arm of your chair stock, or other stable. (Make sure it is stable first), then pull toward you or away from the bands you work your muscles. You can use the bands do pushups and leg, shoulder rotations and pull down if you are able.

Another type of wheelchair exercise is strength training. This is done by lifting small weights or dumbbells. If you do not have weights or dumbbells try the food boxes or bags of sugar, etc. Look around you. Weigh them if you can. Start with 1-2 pound weights and work slowly.

The benefits of resistance training include the ability to perform daily activities such as pushing wheelchairs, carry objects and transfer. Many wheelchair users have an inefficient 'push' and strengthening the muscles involved will help greatly.

Remember to always keep a positive attitude. Use discipline to enter into a regular exercise and a fitness program that you created yourself and continue to do so. It is so easy to quit, but important to keep it but remember you do nothing you know or feel that you should not. Start slowly. Keep an eye on the final result.

A fitness and exercise program in wheelchairs can greatly improve your health and increase mobility for you as a person disabled. If you are bored, stick to the music, it helps a lot.
